This has been a fun experience. I learned a lot about taking good photos. When I first walked in to class, I didn't have any photo knowledge whatsoever. I didn't know that shutter speed mattered, and I had no idea what aperture was. When I was first given a camera and told to take pictures, I walked around the school taking snapshots of random things. The first week, I learned about composition. This was something that I never really thought about, but it made total sense to me. I realized I had to take time to set the shot up right, so that the picture would turn out good. This was a skill I used for every photo I turned in. I also learned about exposure. This was tricky for me, because the camera I brought from home was harder to adjust the shutter speed and aperture. As a result, many of my photos ended up frustratingly dark. However, I did manage to get a few really neat shots where the exposure and composition were perfect. Another thing I learned about was photoshop. I had never used photoshop before this class, so I had no idea how to do anything. I remember on the first photoshop assignment, we had to make pop art. At first, I struggled with it, but after a while, I got the hang of it. throughout the weeks of photoshop I ended up making some really cool pictures, which I am proud of. Below is my first photoshop, and then my best photoshop. All in all, I really enjoyed this class. There were some awesome assignments (To me, my favorite was macro), and some not-so-awesome assignments (I wasn't the biggest fan of food). I thought all of the photoshop assignments were loads of fun, in particular the school context and the open tutorials. Digital photography I was awesome, and I'm taking digital photography II in my third trimester this year. I'm looking forward to it. The last pictures I will post are below; they are a comparison from my first photo to my last.

I did two assignments here. Photoshop 7 was where I had to take a word, define it, and add in a bunch of things that were examples of that word. I chose the words creepy and small. Photoshop 8 was where I had to make puns with photoshop. I'll let you try to guess them. Photoshop #7 (Dictionary)Photoshop #8 (Puns)I thought this assignment was a fun and simple way to be creative in photoshop. I think in the future I could make better dictionary pieces, and better puns, but this was a cool start.
For this assignment, I had to set my shutter speed really slow, go in a dark room, and use a light to "paint" something in the air. I attempted to make two people holding hands. best Photo-RawBest Photo-EditedAperture: f3.3 Shutter Speed: 8 ISO: 100 Top 5I thought this was a cool assignment. Light painting is an interesting thing to do, and I'd like to try it out more and make cooler things. The one thing that was difficult was that I had to work with my sister, who struggled to draw a person and keep the light pointed out.
For this assignment, we had to take portrait pictures in a studio, and out of one. We learned how to set the lighting so that it is even on the person's face. We also learned how to use bounce cards when not in a studio, to make the lighting even. Portrait picturesFinal PieceI thought this was a cool assignment, because I got to see what it's like for the people taking the portrait pictures for the yearbook. I learned that setting the lighting in the studio is not super difficult, but getting good lighting out of a studio is much harder.
For this assignment I had to take pictures and turn them into black and white photographs. I decided that I had some good pictures of my friend from an earlier week, so I went through and picked out my best pictures. Here they are. Best Picture- RawBest Picture- PhotoshoppedShutter speed: 1/250 Aperture: f 5.0 ISO:80 Top 5I learned that you can't just turn any picture into a black and white picture, and have it look cool. Most pictures in black and white look better if they're gloomy, or "Contemplating."
For this assignment, we had to create a dash of color picture and a polaroid picture. After we finished those, we were able to decide what we wanted to do. I decided I wanted to create a rip in a picture, add cracks to a person's face, and replace a person's face with space. Dash of Color/ Polaroid Original photosAfter photoshopOther Photos, BeforeOther Photos PhotoshoppedI learned a lot about photoshop from this assignment, and I had to do a lot of trouble shooting. In the end, I think they turned out okay, and that after some practice, I could make them look even better. Links-

I chose to stand a coin up on it's side and take a picture of it, highlighting it's shadow. Original BestPhotoshopped bestShutter speed: 1/8 Aperture: f3.3 ISO: 200 Top fiveThis assignment was cool. I played around with different coins, and I used different angles, and in the end, I think it turned out well.
For this assignment, we set up tripods in an open space and took multiple pictures of ourselves in different positions, spread out through the area. We then used photoshop to create layer masks, so that there were multiple versions of ourselves in one picture. These are my pictures: I thought this assignment was fun. It allowed creativity, which created cool images. I also learned how to use the layer mask, which is something
For this assignment, we had to take pictures of food. I attempted to take pictures of my homemade chicken tenders and sweet potatoes. It didn't end up as nicely as I wanted it to, but it wasn't the worst. Best Photo (Original)Best Photo (With Photoshop)I had to brighten the image up, and sharpen the tender that's in focus. Aperture: f4.6 Shutter: 1/8 ISO: 200 Top 5What I learnedI learned that even if the lighting seems to be okay, I always need to double check. I also learned that it's not easy to make greasy food look tasty.
For this assignment, we had to take a picture of the school, and edit it in photoshop so that it had things added into it. Original PhotoEdited PhotoI learned from this assignment how to add in backgrounds. I also learned how to add images into a picture, and how to create a shadow for what I add in. This was a fun assignment, and I'm looking forward to doing more.
