For this assignment, we were introduced to the basics of photoshop by making pop art pictures. We learned about how to use things such as layers, guides, and a few more things. We created two pop art photos. Original Photo #1Pop Art #1Original Photo #2Pop Art #2What I learnedI learned some important keyboard shortcuts, as well as how to use layers, guides, threshold dialogues, anchor layers, and how to resize the canvas. These are things that I will be using in the future to liven up my pictures, and really make them stand out.

Important Things to Note
For my first photo assignment, I decided I want to focus on PORTRAIT photography. I hope to be able to capture the personality of the person I'm taking a picture of. Here are a few photos that I found that are inspiring to me: I feel all of these pictures capture the person's personality, which is what I want to do. I think I will have a friend pose against a wall, and tell him to think of something funny. I'd like it if I could capture him laughing, because he's a goofy person.
We've recently learned about composition in photography. Composition is the way you put together an image. We had eleven main focuses: -Balance -Color -Depth of Field -Framing -Lines Pattern Perspective -Rule of Thirds -Space -Symmetry -Texture BALANCE-"The Road Home" COLOR- "Hornet" DEPTH OF FIELD-"The Flower" FRAMING-"Through the Hurdle" LINES-"The Track" PATTERN- "Squares" PERSPECTIVE- "The Football" RULE OF THIRDS- "Spikes" SPACE- "On The Bench" SYMMETRY- "The Field" TEXTURE-"Smooth Flowers" REFLECTION
I learned a lot from this. For example, pictures of things (people specifically) look a lot better if they are on a line on a grid (rule of thirds). Also, colors are important in creating a mood for the picture, but can also distract the viewer from the main interest (color). When it comes to taking a cool picture, don't be lazy. Find the perfect angle, focus on the subject, pick a good background, and make sure you have everything you want in frame. These are things I will take with me as I progress through photography, so that I can have the best composition of my photos possible. weWelcome to Colin Finnegan Photography! My name is Colin Finnegan, and this is my blog. I am in 10th grade at Saline High School. I play lacrosse and love watching football and hockey games.
I took Digital Photography for two reasons: the first being that I want to learn more about photography. I've taken pictures before, but I haven't focused on taking the best picture I can. The second reason is that I need a credit to graduate. I look forward to posting my pictures to this blog! |
